Damascus Road.

Damascus Road: 36/24" Acrylic on canvas.

I chose to approach this painting a little differently, opting to use only a palette knife, as in other of my paintings of a mechanical nature.  I suppose my reasoning towards this stems from my own  awkwardness and general ignorance of all things mechanical.  My mental and emotional disassociation from the subject seemed to demand an approach that might remove any notion of control in execution.  Instead leaving me to, wield the palette knife with the same fumbling awkwardness that grips me whenever I direct my attention towards the mechanical.  In some small way, I hope that this same fumbling and halting approach will help familiarize myself  more with the subject-matter.  As I attempt to come to terms with the Machine and make my own kind of peace with it.
